Executive Corner
Welcome to another year of meetings, friendships, projects, speakers and fun! I hope you have had a wonderful summer season and have had time to enjoy your family and friends, holiday time, rest and relaxation, and quilt time too!
Richmond Guild Meeting September 16/09
September 3, 2009 | Leave a CommentCan you believe that only two weeks from today is our first meeting for this year!
Our guest speakers for this evening are Thelma Robbins and Grace Whiting. I’m not sure if it is their request or that of our Programme Director but please bring a magazine to this meeting. It could be about gardening, home, cooking, science, women’s issues, sports, news, etc, etc. There will be a box at the Membership table and you must be willing to part with your magazine in exchange for another. Sounds interesting to me.
The Executive has decided that Visitor’s fees will now be $5 per meeting in order to defray some of our increased rental costs.
Jan will be introducing the Mystery Quilt and please remember to have your Summer Block Challenge completed and have your name and the musical group, band, etc. on the back of your block. This only needs to be a piece of paper pinned on.
Please remember your mugs for our Social time which begins at 7:15 and, hopefully, the business will begin at 7:45. I know that you will all have stories to share about what you did on your summer vacation…..remember when we had to do an essay on that at school?!
If you would like an announcement made during the meeting, please call me at 591-1852 or e-mail at: jgfuller@rogers.com. The business meetings can sometimes be difficult to manage if there are a lot of unexpected announcements to make.
Of course, once again and at every meeting we will have Show and Tell to peek at what you have been doing over the summer.
Looking ahead: our October meeting will feature our guest speaker, Pippa Moore who will be conducting classes at The Country Quilter in October.
If you have not yet registered to be a member of a team for The Quilt Marathon, please call the store at: 838-5541 since the team forms are now there. I will have a special guest from British Columbia on the team that I joined!
Our first Richmond Area Quilters Guild show will be on October 17 at the Landmark Court complex and please bring the articles that you would like to display or sell to this meeting, I know that there has been much interest in this. Please have a label with your name and the title of the quilt on it, once again on a piece of paper attached to your article. It can be a quilt, but please nothing larger than a twin since we have limited display space, wearable art, etc. If you wish to sell an article have the price clearly marked and sales will be cash or cheque only. The Executive mocked me when I told them of my experience with satellites and credit cards over the summer!
Hoping that you all have had a pleasant summer and looking forward to seeing you there!
Jacquie
